…crafting stash

Add this box set of embroidery thread by Sajou to your crafting stash.  100% Cotton, 4-ply, made in France with 96 colors.  Absolutely beautiful.  Yes, it is on the pricey side, especially if you are used to buying DMC Floss.  But…it’s so pretty!!  Purchase it domestically at Purl Soho.

…what i’ve been up to

I know I’ve been absent for awhile, and I will be again with baby girl due any day now.  However, I felt inspired to share what I have been up to lately.  Instagram.  That’s what.  I have big dreams of one day becoming fluent in digital photography, but for now…Instagram.  It’s immediate gratification for the camera challenged.  Follow my photos here.

1. Eating cupcakes at Trophy

2. Drinking chocolate milkshakes

3. Watching husband play games at our baby shower

4. Shopping at my favorite crafts store Impress

5. Trying out a new place to eat in Edmonds

…textile love

I have fallen in love with 2 fabric collections that make me want to do 2 things: Break out my sewing machine and make a quilt, or sit behind the computer and design fabric for Spoonflower.  Neither of which I have time for, so for now, I will have to be content with staring at these adorable designs, and maybe, adding some of the yardage to my stash.

This first one is called “Walk in the Woods” by Aneela Hoey for Moda Fabrics.  She runs a sewing blog called Comfort Stitching, and designs adorable collections for Moda.  Buy yardage here and pre-cut bundles here.

The second collections is called Mod Basics by Birch Fabrics.  This fabric company makes quilting fabrics from 100% Organic Cotton.  Check out their list of stockist here.  Also, check out their blog.

…etsy darling

Last night I came across this darling etsy shop called la boom!  The lovely Tatiana lives in Greece and makes the most adorable shadow and light boxes!  Her work inspires me to make a huge mess all over my work table with paper, scissors and glue.  I love creating little scenes of art within a small box.  I need to get back to making my own shadow boxes.  I have all the ingredients, I just need to make the time…

Find Tatiana on her two blogs, here and here.

Also, I know I said I would post last week about those alphabet flash cards I am making for baby girl’s nursery.  Sorry, I fibbed.  Not intentionally, I swear!  I really will get those posted this week.  Most likely.  When I started this blog in January, I thought I was gonna post 3-4 times per week.  Well…I always start out with higher goals than reality allows.  Now, I will be happy with 1, maybe 2 posts per week.  But stick with me.  Over time I hope I can work up to the job of daily postings!  In the meantime I recommend…

…stamping class

a couple weekends ago, i took a stamping class at Impress called Vintage Flash Cards, taught by Lavonne Harrington.  she designed these 8 adorable cards inspired by children’s vintage flash cards.  if you live in the Seattle area, and love paper crafts, i highly recommend taking a class by Lavonne.  she is such a delightful lady with a great sense of design.  making these cards inspired me to create my own version of all 26 letters for our new nursery.  i will post my first 2 cards later this week…

happy Valentine’s Day!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  i arrived back in town last night, after 4 days in Houston for my baby shower (which went great!  btw), and i am spending today catching up.  i apologize for not posting a moody monday yesterday.  i felt really guilty about it…but then i decided there were other things to worry about, so i moved on.  besides, i have bigger and better plans for the moody monday series.  i would like to provide a more in depth mood board with a full collection of images and colors.  i haven’t decided yet if it will be once a month, or every few weeks.  hey, i’m still pretty new to this blogging thing, so i’m just figuring it out as i go.  my main blogging goal…provide content that inspires me.  i figure, as long as i do that…everything else that should happen will fall in place.

i am currently in the market for a new pair of Tom’s, and i cannot decide which ones to get.  I am really kinda feelin’ like i have room in my closet for all six…

happy new week! (a day late).  here’s to makin’ it through to friday night with our sanity intact…
